Join the World Affairs Council-Washington, DC as we host His Excellency Román Macaya Hayes, Ambassador of Costa Rica to the United States for an Ambassador Series event. Ambassador Hayes will discuss the United States and Costa Rica’s bilateral relationship. The United States’ is Costa Rica's largest trading partner, accounting for over half of Costa Rica's exports, imports, tourism, and foreign direct investment.

Prior to becoming a diplomat Amb. Hayes developed a multidisciplinary career as a scientist, businessman, advocate, politician and academic. He also served as the President of Asociación Latinoaméricana de la Industria Nacional de Agroquímicos and worked with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the World Trade Organization (WTO) to represent Latin American interests.
