The Persian Gulf has long been an area of political and economic importance. As the United States withdraws from Iraq, regional powers are stepping in to fill the vacuum. Saudi Arabia and Iran are seeking to expand their spheres of influence in both war-torn Syria and Yemen.

Dr. Robert Barrett, a scholar and Gulf expert with the Middle East Institute, will discuss the intricacies of the Gulf-Security System between the Arabian Gulf and the West and how it has impacted the stability and modernization of the region. He states that in order to predict the future of the Gulf with any degree of certainty one must be familiar with the history of the Persian Gulf.

Join the WAC-DC and author Dr. Roby Barrett as we discuss his book and the future of relations with the states of the Persian Gulf.
